Temeura Morrison Wants a Captain Rex Spin-Off

Temeura Morrison Wants a Captain Rex Spin-Off

While attending the Supanova Comic-Con in Melbourne, Temuera made his feelings known about wanting to bring Captain Rex to live-action. He also said he’d love to bring all the clones to live-action. I say the more Temuera the merrier. Article below.

Star Wars: Temuera Morrison Wants To Star In A Captain Rex Spinoff

Star Wars: Temuera Morrison Wants To Star In A Captain Rex Spinoff

Temuera Morrison is ready to move beyond playing Boba Fett, Jango Fett, and every Clone Trooper in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. He’s got his sights on something a bit more refined and a lot more grizzled. If the New Zealand actor has his way, there could be a Captain Rex spinoff in the works one of these days.

While Morrison played the clones of Jango Fett in the Star Wars movies, the infinite role went to voice actor Dee Bradley Baker when the stories moved to animation for the series The Clone Wars and others. This included the character of Captain Rex, a clone who managed to get past the impulsive programming of Order 66 and retain his ability to think freely. The character appeared prominently in The Clone Wars and later appeared as a much older version in Star Wars Rebels, still voiced by Baker. But he still hasn’t made his live-action debut, and Morrison sees that as an opportunity.

In an interview with Dexerto at Supanova Comic-Con in Melbourne, Morrison shared his simple pitch. “I’d love to do a Captain Rex [project] of some kind, that would be cool,” he said when asked what other stories he’d like to help tell in the Star Wars universe. “Just to play one of the clones.” Morrison already appeared prominently as Boba Fett in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. But while there’s still plenty of room for more Boba action, something about the clones keeps him intrigued and willing to return.

“I enjoyed playing that broken-down Clone Trooper in Obi-Wan,” he continued with a chuckle, referring to his cameo as a homeless veteran Clone Trooper in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. “Credits please! That was fun, so something like that would be good, but we’ll see what happens with the powers that be.” The Star Wars clones shared a dark future after the events of The Clone Wars, and there’s a ton of storytelling potential there that would be wonderful to see with Morrison taking part. Sure, The Bad Batch has already explored that aspect of the clones’ tale, but it still has yet to get a proper live-action treatment.

There have been questions about whether Captain Rex will return for the Ahsoka series, particularly given the close camaraderie shared by the two characters in The Clone Wars. Seeing Morrison as the grizzled veteran on-screen would be a welcomed addition. But there have been no hints that he’s been cast in the series, and such things tend to leak. So as fun as that might be, it’s probably wise not to bet on it.

Still, it wouldn’t be the first time Star Wars has kept a perfect secret. Most were surprised to see Morrison make a guest appearance as Boba Fett in The Mandalorian season 2. That’s not even to mention the appearance of Jack Black and Lizzo in the series, which nobody saw coming. Morrison may have already played Rex in some secret way, making him fall in love with the character. So there’s always room for hope. That’s one theme Star Wars loves to explore, after all.

Tem Attends “Star Wars” Celebration – Panel & Discussion and An Update

New images for you. Here Temuera attends the recent STAR WARS CELEBRATION where he was on a panel for THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT, THE MANDALORIAN and others.

The update on the site is this: I’m in the process of editing THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT screencaps. It’s been a long task since there’s over 100,000 to edit. It’ll take some time to complete. I also have the Disney Gallery documentary on the show and I’ll be including those in the upload. Please be patient.

“Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones” HD Screencaps — Missing Scene

When I posted the screencaps for Temuera’s film STAR WARS: EPISODE II – ATTACK OF THE CLONES, I seemed to have forgotten one of his scenes. It’s the one where Jango and the young Boba (played here by Daniel Logan) are on their way to Geonosis in pursuit of Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). Sorry to have left this scene out.

NOTE: Since first posting this, the site went through a few changes in that it had been deleted by my host. In trying to reconstruct the site I incorporated the screencaps into the gallery as one. You can see this post “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” HD Screencaps, Stills, & Promotional Images for the complete screencaps.

THE MANDALORIAN and THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT weren’t Temuera’s first encounter with the world of STAR WARS. George Lucas made a series of three films after the original and Temuera was tapped to play the part of the first clone of JANGO FETT, the father of Tem’s current character BOBA FETT. Here are the HD screencaps, stills and promotional images from the film. Enjoy.
