Temuera Morrison Joins Jason Momoa on Apple+’s “Chief of War”

Temuera Morrison Joins Jason Momoa on Apple+’s “Chief of War”

Temuera has been added to the cast of CHIEF OF WAR also starring his AQUAMAN and AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM co-star, Jason Momoa. Seems these two are joined at the hip.

Jason Momoa Apple Series ‘Chief of War’ Casts Temuera Morrison

Temuera Morrison has joined Jason Momoa in the Apple limited series “Chief of War,” Variety has learned.

The role reunites the pair, as they previously played father and son in the DCEU film “Aquaman.” Morrison will also appear alongside Momoa in the sequel “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” due out in theaters in December 2023.

“Chief of War” was first reported on in April. Per the official logline, the series “follows the epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view.” Morrison will play King Kahekili, the King of Maui.

Morrison is perhaps best known for his work in the “Star Wars” film and television universe. He recently starred in the Disney+ series “The Book of Boba Fett” after reprising the role of the lightly digested bounty hunter Boba Fett in fellow “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian.” He first joined the franchise in the film “Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones” in the role of Jango Fett. Morrison is also known for films like “Once Were Warriors,” “What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?,” and “Moana.”

He is repped by JR Talent Group, Thirdhill Entertainment, and Bruce RBA Managent.

Apple has given “Chief of War” a nine-episode order. Momoa co-created the series with Thomas Pa’a Sibbett. Both serve as executive producers along with Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Doug Jung. Jung is also the series’ showrunner. Justin Chon will direct the first two episodes and executive produce. Fifth Season and Chernin Entertainment produce.

This will mark the first time Momoa has written for television. He previously co-wrote, directed, and starred in the film “Road to Paloma,” which was released in 2014. He and Pa’a Sibbett also co-wrote the story for the upcoming feature “The Last Manhunt,” with Momoa appearing onscreen in a supporting role. Momoa starred in the feature “Braven” in 2018, which was co-written by Pa’a Sibbett.

“Star Wars: Visions” – E1X02 Tatooine Rhapsody

Temuera provided the voice for his badass STAR WARS character, BOBA FETT for STAR WARS: VISIONS. This was an animated anthology series created for the American streaming service Disney+. Produced by Lucasfilm, the series consists of various original stories set in, or inspired by, the Star Wars universe. Season one was created by a Japanese animation studio. It’s hard to mistake that voice.

“The Book of Boba Fett” Season Two Hinted

“The Book of Boba Fett” Season Two Hinted

In a recent screenshot on Disney+’s Spanish site, it apparently has “spoiled” a possible season two of THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT. There is some speculation this particular site has been right with “spoiling” further seasons of THE MANDALORIAN and other Disney+ properties. You be the judge.

The Book of Boba Fett Season 2 seemingly confirmed by Lucasfilm poster leak

The Book of Boba Fett was a delightful interlude in the Star Wars story. In-between the release of The Mandalorian Season 2 and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett combined elements of the former’s genre action and the latter’s prequel nostalgia into a standalone adventure following Boba Fett as he starts his own empire.

It felt like the story ended in a natural place, but could Boba have further adventures on the horizon? One leak suggests just that. Here’s what might be in store for the future for Tatooine’s newest crime lord.

Redditor SomeBoredBoi posted a Spanish poster for recent and upcoming Disney+ products, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and The Mandalorian Season 3. There was also something new: The Book of Boba Fett Season 2 was listed as “coming soon.”

Is this a marketing mistake, or an accidental leak? There’s no telling at the moment, but this is definitely a spark of hope for the fans who were hoping the Boba-based interlude was more than just a one-off.

Assuming there is a Season 2 of The Book of Boba Fett, when can we expect to see it? Considering how Season 1 tied into The Mandalorian Season 2, it’s unlikely we’ll see anything until well after The Mandalorian Season 3 hits Disney+. That could potentially make Boba Fett Season 2 a 2024 release, depending on how quickly it’s produced.

There is one issue that makes this poster suspicious, however. It doesn’t appear that other upcoming Star Wars shows like Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew, or The Acolyte are on it, so why would a season that probably wouldn’t be out for two years be included on it when shows coming much sooner don’t even merit a mention?

Still, there are no shortage of ways for the story of Boba and friends to continue. In the post-credits scene of The Book of Boba Fett Season 1 we saw Cobb Vanth in Boba’s bacta tank, healing from a run-in with Cad Bane. In Season 2, could the Sheriff of Freetown become one of Boba’s lieutenants? Or is he more likely to have his own arc in a future season of The Mandalorian?

The Book of Boba Fett has always been a Mandalorian-adjacent show, to the point where one episode of Season 1 barely contained Boba Fett at all and instead essentially functioned as a bonus episode of The Mandalorian Season 2. If The Book of Boba Fett Season 2 does get announced, the Star Wars Disney+ universe will be much bigger by the time it does, and the series could supplement and flesh out a variety of other shows.

Temuera Morrison Wants More Boba Fett

Temuera Morrison Wants More Boba Fett

Temuera has gone on record saying he wants more Boba Fett. Can’t blame him. So do I.

THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT Star Temuera Morrison Hopes To See More “Badass” Take On The Bounty Hunter In Future

It wouldn’t be unfair to say the title character felt a little neutered in The Book of Boba Fett, and Temuera Morrison has joined fans in saying he hopes to see a badass take on the character in future.

After a tease in the first season, The Mandalorian’s second batch of episodes brought back Boba Fett for some badass interactions with Din Djarin. In The Book of Boba Fett, the bounty hunter wasn’t quite so formidable, something that ended up disappointing a lot of Star Wars fans.

While an exploration of what makes Boba tick was welcomed, his attempt to rule over Tatooine left many wondering if it was even worth pulling him out of the Sarlacc Pit. That’s a little harsh, but the Disney+ series definitely didn’t deliver a Fett who was quite as badass as we’d hoped for.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight (via SFFGazette.com), actor Temuera Morrison admitted that he’d like to revisit Boba, albeit in a way that focuses on what made the character so popular in the first place.

“We’ve got to bring him back somewhere. We’ve got to see the old Boba Fett,” he says. “We reintroduced him. We found out some stuff. But I think it’s time to get him back to his badass ways. No two ways around that. So, I think we sort of have that scope to go back there, but that’s out of my control. I’ll just see what happens.”

We’re certainly hoping Boba’s story didn’t end with The Book of Boba Fett, but there’s been no word on a season 2, so we have no idea what Lucasfilm has planned for the anti-hero. If the show had been a massive hit for Disney+, you’d think that more episodes would have been confirmed at Star Wars Celebration, but it’s always possible Fett’s story could continue elsewhere before then.
